janus&jason

janus&jason projects take inspiration from the mythological Roman god, Janus. As a diety, Janus is depicted as having two faces gazing in opposite directions: one looks into the future and one into the past. One represents the beginning and one represents the end.

With the two-faces of Janus, the works of janus&jason expose and provide a truer sense of who we really are. Rather than deny our feistiness or ignore the darker and dirtier halls of the mind, we are convinced that realizing and even inviting the darker side of our character, we can reach a deeper sense of enlightenment.

Driven by their wishful ambition to free women’s mind, janus&jason provokes any form of common sense in their projects. Through their enduring chemistry as well as endless struggles, their ideals come into final form shown in their basic humoristic collections of underwear & bikinis, questioning writings and thoughtful art-direction.

janus&jasonはローマ神話のヤヌス神からインスピレーションを受けています。ヤヌス神は二つの顔を持ち、それぞれが逆の方向を見ています。一つの顔は過去を、もう片方では未来を見ていると言われ、時には始まりと終わりを象徴する神として表現されます。

この二つの顔を持つヤスをヒントに、janus&jasonでは「本来の自分」と向き合うことをテーマにコレクションを発表しています。私たちの内側に潜む二つ目の顔、攻撃的な部分やねじれた感情を、否定するより受け入れることで、多くのことに気づく機会になると考えるからです。

いろいろな意味で縛られがちな女性たちのマインドを解放するため、アンダーウェアとビキニと文章で構成されたコレクションを通して、世にはびこる「常識」へ疑問を投げかけます。
