janus&jason is a fashion label created by Kyoko Shimohama and Charlotte van Zanten. The label takes inspiration from the character of the Roman God Janus. As a God, Janus is usually depicted as having two faces or heads, facing in opposite directions: one of the heads looking into the future and one into the past or, one representing the beginning and one representing the ending. With our brand, we would like to expose the two-faced character of every woman. We are convinced that by acknowledging and coning into reason with the darker sides of our characters, rather than live in denial of our feistiness or dark halls of dirty minds, we can arrive to a sense of enlightenment.
Our chemistry and wishful ambition to free the minds of women has manifested in a bikini-line that is both lovely and naughty, light and dark, pure and destructive.
All of our fabrics were carefully damaged, all of our designs were made to emphasize women’s freedom and all of the pieces were tenderly put together in Kyoko’s minuscule live-in atelier.
